Excellent comment by Sharon Shahid. Donald Trump and his supporters must be held accountable to protect the First Amendment values and the entire Constitution as they seem to protect the Second Amendment. The freedoms for all citizens, embodied by the Constitution as a whole, are essential to the functioning of a democratic society. We cannot “cherry pick” the Constitution.

I was Arnett’s overseas cameraman in El Salvador. He was as crusty as they get.
As he recalls in his book “Live From The Battlefield” we had issues about when it was o.k. to slug your reporter/cameraman. We always made up in the end and dusted ourselves off!.

Thanks for your kind remarks, John.

The JM rededication ceremony isn’t held on the same day every year. The day and month vary, though we try to keep it around the same time of year. For the past three years, the ceremony has been held in June. Follow the Newseum’s website for the date in 2017.

I recently visited the newseum with my 6th graders and it brought tears to my eyes seeing their genuine inquisitive nature’s come alive. Their raw, robust desire to know the truth behind some of the most pivotal historical events was electrifyingly infectious. I hope to be a part of this year’s teacher institute, so that I can develop a new lens from which to view our world and offer answers to a myriad of their burning questions. Thanks, Newseum!

I have what I believe is an original newspaper “The San Francisco Examiner Sunday Edition, Sept. 4. 1898, Vol.LXVII, No 66.. It has the look and feel of paper described above of post 1880 papers. Apparently I am not near any appraisers. Any suggestions on how to acquire information on this newspaper? I am in the Springfield MO area

In that case i made a homemade rebel flag dress for semi and asked my principals and they both agreed i’d be fine, but i did get an ISS for my rebel flag nails. As a former journalist and long-time subscriber to the LATimes, I’ve been dismayed as I’ve watched the paper shrink in size (literally) and seen many of its best reporters and editors leave or be fired. But when I opened the paper to find an ad taking up at least a third of the front page, I was angry beyond words. With the word “Advertisement” clearly printed on the top it felt as if the whorl paper had simply become an advertorial for American Airlines and that what ever news was one the front page no longer carried any weight. It was a sad day for this once great paper, and makes many of us in L.A. wonder why Tribune still refuses to sell it to people like Eli Broad who want to try and make it a great local paper again.
