This version is a maintenance & security release of the 3.1.x branch which fixes one trivial security issue and various smaller bugs. The security issue only affects users using no longer supported versions of browsers as well as improperly setup webservers (thanks to Lukas Reschke of Nextcloud for reporting this). The bugfixes address the Q&A captcha logging errors when it was solved, fatal errors when upgrading from 3.0.x in certain cases, and database transactions not being rolled back with incorrect notification settings. Other changes include an improved migrator and hardened form checking in the Admin Control Panel. It also adds support for UI tests in extensions and now checks the version constant against the config version to notify users of incomplete updates.

This is the first release candidate of the upcoming phpBB 3.2.0 feature release and introduces major changes and new functionality. Among the new features are a completely revised installer including CLI support, a new BBCode system that adds more power to quotes and supports emojis, and full support for PHP 7.0. As already announced previously, prosilver is now the only supported style and subsilver2 has been removed subsequently. In addition to that, larger code refactorings and improvements where applied to phpBB's backend for an improved performance.

Marc2016-05-31T05:33:41+00:00http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=2373966Extended maintenance schedule for phpBB 3.1 Ascraeus While approaching the release of phpBB 3.2.0 Rhea (see phpBB 3.2 Rhea is near – help us test it now!), some of you might have noticed that we're also close to the intially planned End of Maintenance (EoM) for phpBB 3.1 Ascraeus.
Based on the release timetable we targeted around the release of phpBB 3.1 Ascraeus, this would have given administrators about 6 months of maintenance and a year of security updates to migrate to the latest phpBB branch. Following some small delays and the decision to advance the development of several important features, we were forced to amend the previous release timetable for phpBB Rhea 3.2.
We're extending the time frame phpBB 3.1 will receive maintenance and security fixes accordingly. The timetable for 3.1 is now as follows:

The support forums will be locked, but will be still be available in a read-only form for reference. All download links for phpBB 3.0.x will be removed. If you still need those packages, you will be able to obtain them from SourceForge or download.phpbb.com.
It is recommended that you use these seven months to prepare for converting to phpBB 3.1.x or 3.2.x when it becomes available. While support for 3.0.x will not be available, support for converting to 3.1.x or 3.2.x will be available in their respective forums.
For those who receive support from an international support site, they will dictate their own support schedules and you should seek information from them.
As a reminder, phpBB 3.0.x is already in its End of Life phase and is no longer receiving maintenance or security fixes. While there are no known vulnerabilities in phpBB 3.0.14, it is recommended that you upgrade to a fully supported version. This version is a maintenance release of the 3.1.x branch which fixes various smaller bugs including improper column defaults for new table columns in MSSQL, issues with the updater while using caches that are not file based, as well as duplicate emails being sent by the email queue due to opcache, and attached images not being displayed in the expected order when adding them inline. It also adds support for X-Forwarded headers for upgrading non-SSL connections to SSL and allows extension authors to disable sending headers on Extension pages served via app.php.

This version is a maintenance and security release of the 3.1.x branch which fixes various smaller bugs including periodic failures with sqlite3 databases, improper handling of avatar gallery subfolder paths, and "Select All" functionality on the Edge browser in the code BBCode.
We identified a bug and a security issue in 3.1.7 prior to publically announcing the release. Thanks to landaire for reporting the security issue. Thus this release is called 3.1.7-PL1 (patch level 1) and includes a corrected database migration as well as proper verification of a CSRF token on the BBCode page in the Administration Control Panel. An actual CSRF attack would only have been possible if an attacker also managed to retrieve the session id of a reauthenticated administrator prior to targeting them.

This includes the following during that period:
New posts, pms & topics
User registrations, email changes and password changes
Customisation DB submissions (Extensions, Styles, Language packs)
Also due to some unusual behaviour everyone’s notifications settings on phpBB.com have been reset to never send out emails for notifications. You can still change your settings here but we’ve reset everyone’s settings to phpBB defaults (to email you for topic & forum subscriptions and PMs) to make sure you don't miss anything but you can of course revert these to your own personal preferences.
We would like to reiterate that *.phpbb.com outages do not affect your own installations of phpBB.
We are sorry as we understand many of you depend on phpbb.com for support as well as the resources it provides. We've published on our blog more technical details on what actually went wrong here for those of you who are interested.

This version is a maintenance and security release of the 3.1.x branch which fixes one content permission issue and a number of bugs, as well as adds new events as entry points for extensions to modify phpBB's behaviour.
We'd like to thank 5hocK for letting us know that it was previously possible for the subject of a post of an inaccessible subforum to be listed as the newest post on the forum index. This could happen if the subforum was password protected while its parent forum wasn't, or if users were granted permission to view the subforum in lists, but not to read posts in the subforum. We recommend using appropriate permission settings with usergroups over password protected forums.
This release uses the respective HTML attribute to disable autocompletion on all password fields that still allowed it. Passwords required to authenticate to external services like email or XMPP servers are no longer set as default values in ACP forms - thanks to Foritfy Open Source Review for proposing this improvement.
Please note: You may run into a conflict warning when using the automatic update package. We recommend you resolve the conflict by picking "Do not merge - use new file". If you have made custom changes to the file "includes/acp/acp_prune.php" or would like further information, please read the corresponding sticky topic in our support forum.
